Grow old with me, the best is yet to be
If you search #houstonphotographer on Instagram at this very moment, there are 334,482 current posts. That's exactly what Priscilla did when she began her pursuit for a photographer to document a session celebrating her and Eric's first anniversary. Of all the photos uploaded at the time, something about an image that I had posted made her click on it. And from there, she liked it enough to reach out to me and schedule a session to be shot in a very specific location even tho

Birthday Babe
I love holiday weekends! While we have lots of plans for just about every day until the hubby goes back to work next week, I also have a little bit of extra time for editing. I'm so excited to deliver Ximena's first birthday shoot to her mommy. This was such a fun session because this little girl cannot take a bad picture. Her eyes, smile, hair, and lashes are a photographer's dream. Not to mention all of her adorable outfits! She's going to have a boho themed birthday party,

There's nothing like knowing your newborn days are over to make snuggling with one that much more sweet. Newborn shoots are my current favorites, even though they are so much harder than any other type of session. The prep work that goes into them is days-worth of planning as opposed to just showing up at a location with my camera. It also takes a whole different juggling act to get a great shot. I've found that the most important aspect is being comfortable handling all of t

Fiesta like there's no manana...
Last Saturday I got to finally meet the oh-so-sweet Coronado family. SJ had contacted me months ago to schedule a session to commemorate her baby boy, Ethan’s first birthday. We had been chatting back and forth about ideas and locations for what seemed like forever. I remember thinking when she booked, “Laynie will be one by then…that seems like so far away.” Well, it wasn’t, and the time went by super fast. SJ and I both stalked the weather all week, and we were so fortunat

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
Proverbs 31:29 I know everyone has heard of the pregnancy glow, and maybe you were even one of those fortunate unicorns who actually experienced it. I was one of the un-lucky gals that the phenomenon skipped right over. But have you ever witnessed someone who glows throughout motherhood? From the second that I saw Ashley with Audrey back when she was a teensie-tiny newborn, I knew that it was in fact possible to glow from motherhood. This girl was in the thick of the newborn

Graffiti, Rust, & Bricks
Last week I got to shoot two senior sessions in downtown Tomball. It is by far my favorite spot for seniors. There is so much variety in such a close vicinity. Both of my seniors wanted more of an urban feel as opposed to using too many rustic elements. We incorporated lots of brick walls, metal shipping containers, spring greens, and of course, the rusty safe. My mid-week session was with Mason. He's prepping to make the move to study engineering at the University of Tenness

In my daughter's eyes
I LOVE when mommas want to get in front of the camera with their babies. Carla specifically wanted pictures of herself with her five-year-old daughter, Elise, and I was so honored that she chose me to capture their sweet moments. The sun light on this particular morning peaked in and out during our session, but the rays coming over the trees made for a pretty perfect setting to watch Elise run and play. A wildflower field and flower crown...I can't help but swoon over the swe

…How Sweet the Sound
I have a confession to make. At the beginning of the year, I was very hesitant to start shooting Senior portraits because I felt so out of touch with that age demographic. I’m a mom of babies, and my oldest niece and nephew are ten years old. The direct exposure that I have of the whole teen age group gets skipped right over to college aged young adults and newly engaged couples, and then into families with young kiddos. I believed the sterotypes that are out there about “tod

My Sister Has an Awesome Sister
The last morning session of spring mini day was reserved for the Kiser sisters. Ava and Indie are the crazy gorgeous daughters of my sister’s childhood friend Jenae. She and her husband, Preston were high school sweethearts and are now trying to keep up with these two little lovebugs. I’ve known Jenae since she was in about 7th grade, and I would get into epic battles with Courtney (my little sis) because the two of them would go through my closet when I wasn’t around. These
