The Lord is good to those who wait for Him

July 7, 2017

A professional dancer + a Texas boy = a long, little lady with a gorgeous head of hair. All twenty-two inches of Miss Vivian were such a pleasure to have in the studio a couple of weeks ago. Although this little love did not want to sleep during most of her session, I was not complaining one bit about the extra snuggles that I got to sneak in.

While she really liked having her arms swaddled in tightly, it was nearly impossible to keep her long legs tucked in...she was almost too long for my favorite basket!

I can't help but putting bonnets on babies...

Vivian is the first grandchild on her daddy's side...and the first girl for her grandma after raising two boys herself. As soon as grandma found out that baby was a girl, she wanted to be the one to buy her first set of pearls. Paired with the nice collection of headbands she's already stocked up on, Vivian is destined to be a classy, little fashionista.

One week after we shot Vivian's solo session, the whole Clay family (including puppy sister Shelby!) got in front of my camera for their at-home lifestyle. It's taking a lot of self control to not share every single image from their shoot. They had the perfect sitting area with a window seat where we hung out for most of their shots.

In the background of these next images is a verse that Will wrote on their chalkboard -  "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3:25-26. It could not be a more perfect verse for new (and old) parents.

OK....so the window seat. I just about squealed when I saw it. It was so perfect for Lezlie and Vivian's mommy and daughter photos. Here's the funny thing, although it's a tricky lighting situation and maybe some of the image might be blown out (way too bright) in unintentional areas, there's a visibly evident glow between these two ladies. Right smack dab in between their two hearts. It didn't matter how much a changed my settings or focus points, the glow was still there. It had nothing to do with my camera and everything to do with the beauty that is so strong with this sweet bond. The emotion and connection in these photos is what keeps me in utter disbelief that I have the honor of getting to freeze these moments for amazing families like the Clays.

Next, we snapped a few in Vivian's watercolor, floral inspired nursery.

Lezlie, I'm sure glad that dance brought you to Texas and that Texas boy kept you here.Ya'll are just too adorable for words. I loved getting to know you guys and swooning over your sweet little girl.
