mo·ment (noun) - a very brief period of time.
There's nothing like knowing your newborn days are over to make snuggling with one that much more sweet. Newborn shoots are my current favorites, even though they are so much harder than any other type of session. The prep work that goes into them is days-worth of planning as opposed to just showing up at a location with my camera. It also takes a whole different juggling act to get a great shot. I've found that the most important aspect is being comfortable handling all of t

In my daughter's eyes
I LOVE when mommas want to get in front of the camera with their babies. Carla specifically wanted pictures of herself with her five-year-old daughter, Elise, and I was so honored that she chose me to capture their sweet moments. The sun light on this particular morning peaked in and out during our session, but the rays coming over the trees made for a pretty perfect setting to watch Elise run and play. A wildflower field and flower crown...I can't help but swoon over the swe

Mommy & Me - Thirteen Years in the Making
The very first session of the spring minis was a Mommy and Me shoot for Melanie and Addison. A couple weeks before the session, Melanie and I talked about themes and props and the location and the predicted weather…you know, usual photo shoot stuff. When these gorgeous girls showed up dressed up and fancy, you know what Addison saw? A big patch of grass to run around and a few things to climb on and jump off of. She had zero concerns about what we had “planned” for the shoot.

This Princess is Guarded by a Big Brother
This bright eyed boy is going to be a big brother to a sweet baby girl in April…unless she decides to make her entrance sooner, like mom is predicting. The Muhlbeiers booked the first spot in my Spring mini’s, so I’ve been looking forward to their session for a long time, and Dalton, Amanda, and Knox did not disappoint. It took Knox only a few minutes to warm up, and I’m sure it had nothing to do with my sister trading Smarties for big smiles. He was the absolute sweetest. He

361 days as a family of 5
Everyone says that the first year flies by. I couldn’t agree with this more. During our babies’ first years, we’re consumed with feedings, weight gain, counting diapers, nap schedules, rolling over, starting solids, sitting up, teething, growth spurts, sleep regressions, first words, crawling, talking, walking. I mean…how could it not fly by? That’s an insane amount of growth and development within a relatively short period of time. Being on the brink of celebrating my own li

Dear Best Friend, I Love You.
I have no idea where to even begin this post. Literal, legit, writer’s block. This is about my best friend…why is it so hard to try to find words to talk about how awesome she is. I have zero issues filling up a post about a family that I’ve only spent a couple hours with. But where do I even start trying to write about someone I’ve spent the last sixteen years with? This girl and I have experienced just about every major life milestone together, usually not from the same cit
